HVAC Mechanical Design Engineer

This position is primarily located Honolulu, HI. Individual to commute from Phoenix, AZ will be considered, with expectations to relocate in the future.

  • Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Provide management to an HVAC design team
  • Oversee multi-year HVAC replacement projects
  • Manage lighting retrofits
  • Recommend and provide insight to clients on project planning
  • Conduct retro commissioning and energy audit services
  • Maintain client relationships and develop sales

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of HVAC design experience
  • CAD supervisory experience essential
  • P.E. in any state with capability of applying to become a P.E. in Hawaii or Arizona immediately
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and industry design standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • CEM accreditation preferred
  • Commissioning and energy auditing experience preferred
  • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Familiarity with energy efficient and sustainable design preferred
  • Familiarity with international building codes preferred
  • Strong writing and communication skills required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required

Description:

Building science-consulting firm with a track record of successful performance stretching more than 25 years is looking for a full time registered mechanical engineer with 10+ years of HVAC design experience. This opportunity is for an HVAC design engineer interested in moving from a design team leadership role to broader project and general management. The candidate must have the immediate ability to become a registered professional engineer in the state of Hawaii or Arizona, and will manage an engineering and design team. Current projects involve a multi-year HVAC replacement program at a major institution and several central plant replacement projects at large commercial buildings. CAD supervisory experience essential, energy efficiency background is preferred; although not required.

Compensation:

  • $80,000.00 to $110,000.00, DOE and Credentials
